How it works

  1. Connect locally

Install the MCP server and configure your NLearn/Moodle host.

  2. Read deadlines and briefs

Retrieve deadlines and extract text from PDF, DOCX, and PPTX assignment briefs.

  3. Plan the work

Ask Claude about assignments and turn deadlines into calendar-ready events.

Overview

NLearn MCP, also called Sentinel, is an MCP server that connects Claude to an NLearn/Moodle dashboard. It is for deadlines and assignment briefs. I designed and built it solo.

Problem

What is due, and what a brief actually says, lives inside Moodle. That is a clumsy place to ask an assistant.

Solution

A local server reads one configured host and turns deadlines and brief files into answers and calendar-ready events.

Key features

  • Upcoming and past deadlines
  • Text extracted from PDF, DOCX, and PPTX briefs
  • Calendar-ready events
  • One-click .mcpb install
  • Tests in GitHub Actions
  • MIT license

Security notes

Requests are limited to the configured host. That is the SSRF control: the server does not fetch an address a prompt invents. Credentials stay on the machine and are not committed.

Outcome

The server can say what is due and pull the text of a brief without sending those credentials anywhere else.
